Statement finishes at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025

The Requirement

An integral part of the stunning ‘Tackle HIV Challenging Stigma’ garden, designed by Manoj Malde, is its striking architectural metalwork - including a pagoda, feature walls, and a walkway crafted from hexagonal perforated metal panels. The powder coating applied to these structures needed to enhance and protect them, without overpowering or distracting from the overall beauty and message of the garden. Coating the perforated walkway sections required expertise in pre-treatment and in ensuring that the perforations were fully coated.

In another standout project, The Firepit Company showcased its ‘Outdoor Kitchen’, evolving beyond its iconic globe-shaped fire pits to create high-end outdoor cooking facilities. These designs incorporated sleek preparation and storage areas as well as al fresco cooking apparatus. For this installation, the powder coating had to deliver a refined, prestige appearance while also offering practical performance by way of heat resistance, weather durability, and easy-to-clean surfaces.

The Powdertech Solution

For the ‘Tackle HIV Challenging Stigma’ the client chose ‘Pearlescent Gold’,  a soft-sheen finish that provided a perfect back drop to the plants within the garden, and striking red ribbons adorning the pagoda. Our meticulous preparation and pre-treatment process ensured that the coating would be consistent in colour and thickness and would withstand foot traffic and weather exposure throughout the event. It was also subject to ‘competition scrutiny’ and  was awarded Silver-gilt.

For the ‘Outdoor Kitchen’, The Firepit Company chose Powdertech’s ‘Iced Coal’ finish. This advanced coating includes self-repairing anti-corrosion primers and has a premium fine-textured surface with best-in-class UV resistance for long-term outdoor use. The subtle metallic appearance adds a sleek, contemporary touch, aligning with the high-end design. As with all our finishes, this coating provides excellent heat, weather and abrasion resistance, and effortless maintenance - needing only a simple wipe-down with water to keep it looking pristine.
