The Requirement

Consort Place is a mixed residential-led development located adjacent to Canary Wharf. Architects Pilbrow & Partners saw The Aspen building, the taller east tower, as complementing the famous silhouette of Canary Wharf itself.

Every aspect of the appearance of this building has been meticulously thought through; it is seen as the zenith of the new development which is regarded as having a total development value of £470m.

The Powdertech Solution

For certain areas of the façade the architects wanted to create the appearance of perforations, in order to complement true perforations in other façade panels.

Using techniques perfected over 20-years, Powder ‘Freeform’ enables the transfer of images such as photos, patterns, writing, or any 2-D format, to be realised in powder coating. We produced a number of test panels until the design was exactly as required. Black spots mimicked the appearance of holes on panels coated in RAL 9006, metallic silver.
