The Requirement
The project involved redeveloping West Wickham Library into a modern community facility incorporating an art gallery, café, business lounge and space for hire.
The architects required a contemporary feel to the extension of the first floor of the library and one which would harmonise with the original terracotta shade of the original brick work. They were most particular about the shade to be used as the metal finish for the façade and all external aluminium structures. As a public facility, all materials used would need to be durable and require minimal maintenance
