The Requirement

Designed by Clear Channel, and made by CMF, the Living Roofs, affectionally nicknamed ‘Bee Bus Stops’, are planted with a mix of wildflowers and Sedum plants. A host of environmental positives are claimed for the shelters including attracting pollinating insects, absorbing rainwater falling on the roof, capturing particulates from the air, and helping to make the city a greener and happier place.

The metal bus shelters supporting the roof-top gardens needed a high-performance coating that will withstand the water and flora run off without deterioration or discoloration. Pre-treatment is the most important stage in powder coating. The longevity and performance of the coating relies directly upon the integrity of the metal preparation.
