In August 2025, I was approached by the owners of a set of townhouses located within a conservation area. The property featured a combination of clay brick and cast stone, including a prominent eaves band course—a row of decorative sandstone-effect blocks adjacent to the guttering.

The homeowners reported that the eaves band course had failed. The cast stone had developed multiple cracks and had ultimately become a health and safety concern. I was tasked with making the area safe and identifying a long-term solution.

Following investigation, it became clear that cast stone was not a suitable material for this application, and a like-for-like replacement would likely result in the same issues. Therefore, we needed to source an alternative material that could replicate the original aesthetic while offering improved durability.

After conducting research, I proposed installing aluminium box sections of a matching size, finished to replicate the appearance of natural stone.

At this stage, I began searching for a company specialising in stone-effect powder coating and came across Powdertech (Corby) Ltd. I contacted the company and spoke with Richard, who was excellent from start to finish. He promptly sent a selection of colour swatches, allowing me to accurately match the existing cast stone. These arrived within a few days, and I selected the ‘Sandstone’ shade, which proved to be an excellent match.

Richard then provided a competitive quotation, which I was happy to accept. Shortly afterwards, I delivered the plain aluminium sections to Powdertech’s depot. Within a week, the finished items were ready for collection, carefully packaged and prepared for transport.

We then returned to Nantwich to install the new sections. The results were outstanding—residents were delighted and impressed by how seamlessly the aluminium blended with the existing cast stone.

In summary, I would highly recommend Powdertech (Corby) Ltd. Their customer service and quality of finish were exceptional throughout. I am very pleased to have found them and look forward to working with them again in the future. A special thank you to Richard and Jill for their excellent support.
