Powder coating is the perfect low maintenance finish for a public sector retrofit project
One of our favourite projects from 2025 was the refurbishment of West Wickham LIbrary, in the borough of Bromley. And we are delighted to learn that, on behalf of the architects, Brimelow McSweeny, it was listed as a finalist for best retrofit project in the Building London Planning Awards.
The extension of the first floor needed a contemporary feel, but one which would harmonise with the original terracotta shade of the original brick work. The architects were very particular about the shade to be used as the metal finish for the façade and all external aluminium structures. We developed four different shades of grey/green in our Evolution-Aged Metal range and coated samples for the client. The shade chosen is a fascinating finish which changes its hue as the light changes. As a public facility, all materials used would need to be durable and require minimal maintenance.
We specialise in one-off unique finishes, as well as offering all of the regular colours. Developing new shades and getting them just right is always an enjoyable challenge.
